The Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM), Department of Science & Technology (DST) Sponsored STATE CONVENTION OF SOCIETY OF PHARMACOGNOSY-GUJARAT CHAPTER & NATIONAL SEMINAR “EMERGING TRENDS, CHALLENGES AND FUTURE PROSPECTS OF HERBAL DRUG DEVELOPMENT “was organized on 28th & 29th October 2023 at Ganpat University, Shree S. K. Patel College of Pharmaceutical Education & Research, Mehsana, Gujarat.
During the inauguration function organized on 28th October 2023, Padmashree Dr. Ganpatbhai I. Patel, president and patron in chief Ganpat University, Prof (Dr.) Navin Sheth, Formar- Vice Chancellor- Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad, Daniel Montplaisir, Joint Director General Ganpat University, Dr. R. K. Patel, Pro Vice Chancellor, Ganpat University
President, Society of Pharmacognosy (Gujarat Chapter), Dr. S. S. Pancholi, Executive Dean & Principal, Ganpat University, & Dr. Nikunjana Patel, Program Co-ordinatior, Head of Pharmacognosy Department, Ganpat University were remained present.
Dr. S. S. Pancholi welcomed the participant and Guests, gave overview of Ganpat University, Ganpatbhai Patel emphasised on use of traditional knowledge for trading of herbal drugs. Dr. R. K. Patel gave overview of “EMERGING TRENDS, CHALLENGES AND FUTURE PROSPECTS OF HERBAL DRUG DEVELOPMENT while Dr. Nikunjana Patel, introduced the participants about the theme of this seminar and gave brief over view on it.
During this seminar eminent academicians and research professionals from reputed pharmaceutical institutes such as Prof. Shailendra Saraf Director, NIPER Ahmedabad , Dr. Narayan Prasad Yadav, Senior principal scientist, CSIR-CIMAP, Lucknow, Dr. Mamta B. Shah Professor & HoD L. M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad Dr. Vimal Kumar In charge Provost (Vice Chancellor) & Dean, School of Pharmacy, ITM (SLS) Baroda University, Vadodara Dr. Pallavi Lavhale Professor & Principal Ram-Eesh Institute of Vocational & Technical Education Noida, had delivered expert sessions on various aspects related to theme.
DR. sheth talked on current issues with herbal drug development, Dr. Saraf explaind the value of Ayurveda in new era. Dr. Yadav explained the role of aromatic plants in herbal drug development while Dr. Pallavi talked on in process analysis during preparation of ayurveduc formulations. Dr. vimalkumar mainly emphasised on lifestyle disorder and role of herbals to control them. Dr, mamta descrided about HPTLC in herbal drug analysis.
In this seminar, 125 students, research scholars, faculty members and industry professional interested in cosmetic field from 16 esteemed institutes had participated. Participants also presented 81 research and review papers. Best Research & Review poster were awarded as follow with cash prizes.
Participants of the seminar highly appreciated the selection of theme and topics of various sessions, content and information delivered by experts and over all management of the seminar coordinated by Dr. Nikunjana Patel.
