Program Details
Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) is a 4 years full time course with 6 months compulsory rotatory internship program as per the regulations laid by the Gujarat University. The course includes teaching of various clinical & physiotherapy related subjects. It also includes clinical exposure in OPD & IPD of various hospitals in and near by Mehsana. " Physiotherapy " means a branch of modern medical science which includes examination, assessment, interpretation, physical diagnosis, planning and execution of treatment and advice to any person for the purpose of preventing, connecting, alleviating and limiting dysfunctions, acute and chronic bodily malfunction including life saving measures via chest physiotherapy in the intensive care units, curing physical disorders or disability, promoting physical fitness, facilitating healing and pain relief and treatment of physical and psychosomatic disorders through modulating physiological and physical response using exercises, physical agents, activities and devices including mobilization, manipulations, mechanical, electrical and thermal agents including therapeutic ultrasound and therapeutic LASER and electrotherapy including electrophysiology for diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
Aim of The Program
The aim of the course in “Bachelor of Physiotherapy” is to qualify students who complete it satisfactorily to work independently as physiotherapists, including working in interdisciplinary teams. The course must train students to plan, execute, evaluate and document physiotherapeutic work within the areas of promotion of good health, prevention of illness, treatment, rehabilitation, and development of the profession, so that students acquire professional competence in the field of physiotherapy.

Eligibility
- A candidate applying for the degree of B.P.T being eligible for admission to the Physiotherapy College affiliated to UGC recognized University must have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination recognized by any Indian University or duly constituted Board & passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English.
Or
- Candidates who have studied abroad and have passed the equivalent examination as per the guidelines of the Association of Indian Universities to determine the eligibility and must have passed in the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English up to 12th Standard level.
- Admission in Physiotherapy must be based on theory marks with 45% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- Candidates must have appeared in NEET & admission in B.P.T. must be done on the basis of merit of NEET. However, latest guidelines of admission committee by Government of Gujarat shall be considered for the admission in Physiotherapy Program.
- He /She must have attained the age of 17 years as on 31st December of the concerned year.
- He/she must furnish at the time of submission of application form, a certificate of physical fitness from a registered medical practitioner that the candidate is physically fit to undergo Physiotherapy course.
- A candidate fulfilling above requirements will be provisionally admitted in the First Year of B.P.T Degree Program, as per the rules of Admission Committee, Government of Gujarat, Gandhinagar.
Program Outcome
At the end of the program, graduates must be able to…
1 Do independent physiotherapy assessment and treatment for patient/client.
2 Work in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team to diagnose and treat movement dysfunctions as per red and yellow flags.
3 Develop skills for physical & functional diagnosis, treatment planning, management, and administration of physiotherapy treatment for patient support.
4 Find employment opportunities in Hospitals/Nursing homes/Sports Teams/Fitness Centers /Community Rehabilitation centers/Health planning boards/Health promotions services/Special Schools/Education Institutes/Industrial Sectors in both private and public sectors as well as in independent physiotherapy clinics.
5 Shall be able to pursue further qualifications to attain a senior position in the professional field and to keep abreast with the recent advances and new technology.
6 Ability to communicate effectively and flexibly in a manner that is appropriate for the patients and other healthcare professionals.
7 Acquaint with the basics of research, and involved in the research process.
8 Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the Physiotherapy practice as provided by national and state councils.
