Description
Objectives of the Visit: The major objectives of the visit are as follows:
1. To provide students with firsthand exposure to the practical applications of geoinformatics in agriculture, enhancing their understanding of how remote sensing technologies can be leveraged in agricultural practices.
2. To make the students aware about the integration of spatial data through remote sensing and geoinformatics, enabling them to grasp the significance of spatial information in decision- making for sustainable agricultural management.
3. To offer UG students a hands-on learning experience, allowing them to explore and manipulate geospatial data, satellite imagery, and mapping tools, thereby bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation in the agricultural context.
4. To raise awareness among students about the latest advancements in remote sensing technologies, such as hyperspectral imaging and precision agriculture applications, and their potential impact on optimizing resource utilization and crop monitoring in the agricultural sector.
KKIASR of Ganpat University organized an enriching visit for 5th-semester students to BISAG on December 2, 2023. BISAG (Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics) is an institute located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. It specializes in space applications and geoinformatics, playing a crucial role in leveraging satellite technology for various applications, including agriculture, urban planning, and disaster management. The journey commenced at 09:15 AM from Ganpat University campus with the 5 th Semester students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture. Mr. Kamlesh Amin and Mr. Jayesh Makwana, visit coordinators of BISAG, warmly welcomed the students and faculty co-ordinators of KKIASR. Following necessary formalities, the students received an insightful overview of BISAG's operations, becoming acquainted with its various functional units and departments.
In essence, this visit not only expanded the students' theoretical understanding but also connected academic concepts to real-world applications, making the learning experience both memorable and invaluable for their academic and professional journeys.
Outcomes of the Session:
1. The visit resulted in an enhanced awareness among undergraduate agriculture students about the practical applications of remote sensing and geoinformatics in agriculture.
2. Students developed skills in manipulating geospatial data, satellite imagery, and mapping tools during the visit, contributing to their practical knowledge base.
3. The visit helped the students to understand the importance of spatial data integration for informed decision-making in agricultural management.
4. Participants gained updated insights into advanced technologies of geoinformatics creating a deeper understanding of their potential contributions to modern agricultural practices.
