Description

An Expert talk on the topic “Pollination Management for fruit production” was organized by the Ganpat University – Faculty of Agriculture and Allied Sciences and invited speaker Dr. Narendra Singh, Ph.D. ARS Scientist (Fruit Science- Horticulture) School of Crop Improvement ICAR- Indian Agricultural Research Institute (J), Hazaribagh, Jharkhand-825405 on 26 th August, 2023 at 10:30 AM to 11:30 PM in online mode. In the beginning of the talk Dr. Deepak Sharma, Assistant Professor, Ganpat University – Kantaben Kashiram Institute of Agricultural Sciences and research, greeted all the participants as well as speaker. He gave transitory information about the event and express thanks to all the participants.

Following that, Dr. Jasmee Patel warmly greeted Dr. Narendra Singh, the speaker, and all the participants with her remarkable words, emphasizing the significance of the talk series encompassing a diverse range of topics. She introduced the topic and highlighted its importance for students and the broader scientific community.

Dr. Narendra Singh commenced his presentation by extending a warm welcome to the audience and expressing his gratitude to the institute for inviting him. Initially, he provided an introduction to the concept of pollination and its underlying mechanisms. He explored into the various factors crucial for achieving successful pollination, illuminating on the agents responsible for transferring pollen in fruit crops. Furthermore, Dr. Singh shared valuable insights regarding the optimal period for effective pollination and expounded upon strategies for both pollination and pollinizer management. Subsequently, he elucidated the intricacies of pollination and pollinizer management for a range of fruit crops, including Mango, Litchi, Citrus, Apple, Pear, Avocado, Ber, Date Palm, Pomegranate, Kiwi fruit, Aonla, and Fig.

In conclusion, he concluded his talk by outlining key points related to future areas of focus and research in the field. Following his presentation, Dr. Narendra Singh engaged in a Questions and answer session, where he addressed inquiries and interacted with the students and other attendees. These questions primarily revolved around topics related to pollination techniques and the strategies involved in managing pollination in fruit crops. The talk was ended by Vote of Thanks given by Dr. Deepak Sharma. In the talk total 142 participants including UG students, PG students, research scholar scientist, teachers and private company’s scientist had taken part from all over the India.
