Description

    An Expert talk on the topic “GM Mustard in India: A Perspective” was organized by the Ganpat University – Faculty of Agriculture and Allied Sciences and invited speaker Dr. Pushpa H. D, Scientist (Genetics & Plant Breeding), Crop Improvement Section, ICAR-IIOR, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad on 28th January, 2023 at 12:30 PM in online mode. In the beginning of the talk Ms. Roshni Barad, Assistant Professor, Ganpat University – Kantaben kashiram Institute of Agricultural Sciences and research, greeted all the participants as well as speaker. She gave transitory information about the event and express thanks to all the participants. 
   Dean, FAAS, Dr. Maurvi Pandya, welcome speaker and all the participants with her astonishing words and convey the importance of the talk series with distinguished topics during wide-ranging series. She introduced the topic with its importance for students and other scientific community. 
After that Dr. Parthsinh Rahevar introduced Dr. Pushpa to the audience and welcome her.  Dr. Pushpa start her talk with the welcome to audience and acknowledgements to the institute for inviting her. She first introduced the mustard crop than elaborate its importance, current status of oil production and future requirements. Then she shifted toward the pros and cons of the GM mustard, what are the issues we are facing, how we developed DMH 11 hybrid and what is the current status of the DHM 11. 
     After her session she give response to the questions and interact with the students. So many students asked questions regarding GM mustard, plant breeding, biotech and career in respective subject. The talk was ended by Vote of Thanks given by Dr. Jasmee Patel. In the talk total 220 participants including UG students, PG students, research scholar scientist, teachers and private seed company’s scientist had taken part from all over the India.
