Description
The Food and Nutrition Department of Ganpat University organized an event on “Nutritional Requirement For Children and Women” as a part of the awareness of nutrition education. The Students of Ganpat University took part in the event and gathered at CHAS, Ganpat University.
The event was organized by the Food and Nutrition Department with coordination of M.Sc. students of food and nutrition. Vishal Goswami welcomed all students and gave a brief detail about the event. Our experts delivered knowledge regarding the whole nutrition requirement of children and women with specific conditions, which is necessary for overall well being.our expert described on children's nutritional needs change as they grow. Infants (0-12 months) require breast milk or formula for growth, with key nutrients like fats and proteins. Toddlers (1-3 years) need balanced meals with adequate protein, fats, and carbohydrates for energy and development. School-age children (4-8 years) and pre-teens (9-13 years) require sufficient calories, protein (19-52 grams), and micronutrients like calcium, iron, and vitamin D to support bone growth, cognitive development, and overall health as well expert talked on women’s nutrition varies by age and life stage. For adolescent girls (14-18 years), energy needs increase due to growth, with specific attention to calcium, iron, and folate. Adult women (19-50 years) need balanced macronutrients (protein, fats, carbohydrates) with a focus on iron (18 mg) due to menstruation, and calcium (1,000 mg) for bone health. Pregnant women need extra calories (300-500 kcal/day), protein, folate, and iron to support fetal development. Lactating women also need additional nutrients to ensure adequate milk production and overall health.
We have discussed all aspects of some myths and facts about balanced diets . After the awareness session, we conducted a quiz session and students showed their healthy participation. The coordinators overseeing the initiative commended the students for their dedicated efforts, expressing their heartfelt gratitude. We were thankful that students enjoyed the event with healthy participation. This event will be helpful for students in the future.
